When you are navigating the uncertain waters of the litigation system, you want an experienced, successful law firm, like ours on your side, protecting your rights.
While we are fortunate to live a country that dictates that we are innocent until proven guilty, that has not been the reality for many our fellow citizens in recent years. Far too often we see citizens that never get to have their day in court and exercise their Constitutional right to defend themselves against charges filed against them, because police have taken on the role of judge, jury and executioner. The training that police are provided mandates that deadly force is only an option if the officer reasonably feels their life or the life of another is in eminent danger. The police should not escalate a situation, as has been done more and more in recent years, to create a life threatening situation. Under no circumstances, should an unarmed suspect that is running away, be shot and killed. It does not meet the threshold for police use of deadly force and does not meet our threshold for compassion as people for people. As parents ourselves, the attorneys at the Law Offices of Scott A. Miller, APC, feel the pain of the mothers and fathers who have lost their children. We also feel their anger and disappointment directed toward a system that is supposed to protect citizens, not harm them. Our attorneys channel their pain and anger into legal arguments that will attain justice for the victims of police brutality.
